Transcription: One of the worst ever environmental disasters took place during the 1991 Gulf War when the retreating Iraqi forces set fire to 75% of Kuwait's oil wells. As the wells burnt, they released huge clouds of choking black smoke that drifted over Kuwait City. Each day, 3 million barrels of oil were burnt and 3 million tonnes of soot entered the atmosphere. It took specialist teams nearly six months to put out all of the fires.
